Newly Updated Itinerary - What You've All Been Waiting For

Hey folks. I've finally put together an itinerary for the next part of our journey. It will take us through the entire state of Virginia and into West Virginia. The dates, of course, are an estimation, so if you are sending mail please send it at least a week in advance, and check the blog before sending it to make sure we aren't a few days ahead of schedule.

Damascus, VA 24236
ETA = May 19/20

Pearisburg, VA 24134
ETA = May 25

Troutville, VA 24175
ETA = May 31

Waynesboro, VA 22980
ETA = June 5

Linden, VA 22642
ETA = June 12

Harpers Ferry, WV 25425
ETA = June 15

Please remember to send "General Delivery" and put my name on the top line. Include the ETA and also write "hold for A.T. hiker". Thank you to all who are dropping us notes of encouragement along the way. It is tons of fun to get mail on the trail!

Les,
You say you'll get to Damascus on May 19/20, but your previous post says you're already there...confusion? Yes, on my part. Any suggestions?

Leslie,
hey, good to hear you made it to Damascus. it seems as if you hike fast. i think about you guys every time i go hiking on the mountains behind my house...and how you are living every day in mountains like these. are you still slack packing or doing it the old-fashioned way now?

We love tracking you. We're moving your little circle head picture along my laminated US map in the playroom (it also shows the faces of all the other people Maddie knows in States). Plus, we have a print out of the trail that is 3.5 feet long hanging on the office wall with your starting out picture with Megan taped to the bottom corner, and your itenerary next to it. We trace over the actual route with a black permanent marker when you've completed each section. It's hanging right over Maddie's desk.

You're pretty educational for Maddie and she'll have lots of questions for you when you get back, about how the details of life on the trail work.

She recently told me that her daily swimming class is "just like Leslie" because you hike every day, but she swims every day (for 30 minutes on most days for 2 weeks, excepting the weekends). So, yeah...almost right.

Leslie,
when you get to Pearisburg, will you let me know where you plan on staying the next night on the trail? I can maybe meet you on the trail; Pearisburg isn't too far for me to get to.
